DHAKAD is Tappa's premier all-in-one advanced player rating. Inspired by aggregate performance index models and custom-weighted for the high-possession style of Indian basketball, DHAKAD measures a player's total court impact per 40 minutes of play.
Unlike standard per-game averages, DHAKAD standardizes stats by actual minutes played, penalizing empty minutes and rewarding efficiency, playmaking, defensive presence, and scoring volume. It factors in team quality through the Plus-Minus component and game context via the Player Impact Estimate (PIE).
Productivity = 0.35 × GmScr + 0.25 × FIC + 0.25 × EFF + 15 × PIE
DHAKAD = (Productivity / MIN) × 40 + 0.1 × (PM / MIN) × 40A common debate in advanced analytics is whether to judge players by per-minute efficiency (quality of contribution) or cumulative volume (total output over time). Tappa Basketball advocates for a balanced approach: neither view should be used in isolation, but rather combined to make optimal sporting decisions.
Standardize player contributions to per-40-minute baselines. Identify bench reserves who deliver massive impact in short windows, and detect high-minutes starters whose production is declining. Compare pacing variables to check who excels in fast-breaks vs. slow half-court structures.
Learn that chucking shots does not equate to value. Grabbing defensive boards, making extra passes, and getting steals raise your rating. Limit turnovers and missed free throws, which carry heavy negative multipliers.
Isolate individual stats from overall team pace or record. Uncover highly efficient secondary options or bench rotation players on lower-profile state rosters who maintain elite efficiency numbers relative to their actual minutes played.
Benchmark domestic national championship players alongside international FIBA tournament stats by mapping all contributions to a single pace-adjusted and minutes-weighted database framework.
